CARNE ASADA

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ pounds strip steak

  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice

  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice

  • 1/4 cup olive oil

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

  • 1 jalapeño, minced (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Marinade:

    • In a medium bowl, combine lime juice, orange juice, olive oil, minced garlic, ground cumin, chili powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, chopped cilantro, and minced jalapeño (if using). Mix well to combine.

  2. Marinate the Steak:

    • Place the strip steak in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably 2-4 hours, or overnight for maximum flavor.

  3. Preheat the Grill or Stovetop:

    • If using a grill, preheat to medium-high heat. If cooking on the stovetop, heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.

  4. Cook the Steak:

    • Remove the steak from the marinade, allowing any excess marinade to drip off.

    • For Grill: Grill the steak for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Adjust cooking time based on the thickness of the steak and your preferred doneness.

    • For Stovetop: Add a little oil to the heated skillet or grill pan. Cook the steak for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Adjust cooking time based on the thickness of the steak and your preferred doneness.

  5. Rest and Serve:

    • Once cooked, remove the steak from the grill or skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, ensuring a juicy and flavorful steak.

  6. Slice and Enjoy:

    • Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips. Serve with your favorite sides such as grilled vegetables, tortillas, rice, or a fresh salad.

Tips:

  • For extra flavor, you can add a splash of soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce to the marinade.

  • If you don't have a grill or a large skillet, you can also broil the steak in the oven
